Summer Learning Series

Summer Learning Series

The Families Thrive Online -- Summer Learning Series -- is designed to provide an introduction to the issue of children's exposure to domestic violence.

The first step towards creating systems change to address children's exposure to domestic violence is learning about the issue and strengthening our knowledge, skills and practices.

During this special, free Summer Learning Series we will watch presentations, engage in discussions, connect with experts and share best practices, all from the convenience of your computer.

Head Start

Spotlight - Why Community Services Bureau is Participating in the Summer Learning Series

Annie Bailey manages a multi-lingual/cultural Mental Health unit which provides crisis intervention, parent and staff education and other related Mental Health services to address the needs of approximately 3,000 eligible children ages 0-5 enrolled at Head Start and Early Head Start preschools across the county.

Contra Costa County Employment & Human Services Department, Community Services Bureau Head Start is committed to improving the lives of children and their families. Through prevention, early intervention and education services, Head Start helps children achieve social, emotional and educational skills that fully prepare them for kindergarten and school success.

The Head Start Mental Health team will be participating in the Families Thrive Online Summer Learning Series to expand team knowledge of domestic violence and the impact of trauma on children and families, deepen insight into the implications of domestic violence on our Head Start community, and bolster the movement towards becoming a "Trauma Informed' community.
