Children, youth and families will thrive in Contra Costa because...

We are a committed, caring and creative community of professionals on a mission to change the future for children and youth who are at risk for or exposed to domestic violence. We are as driven by what we don’t yet know as we are by our collective expertise. Together we are discovering, imagining and affirming a world in which all people, including us, are able to thrive.

We use training to challenge and transform how we think about our work.
(Knowledge/ Learning)

As a community of professionals we accelerate our learning and develop a deep and specialized understanding and knowledge of the issue of children and youth’s exposure to domestic violence.

We begin with a focus on the child and the belief in the innate resilience of every human being.

As we learn together, we will create new frameworks by challenging and transforming how we think about this issue and our work.

We leverage our learning and change organizational practices and policies in our work.

(Organizational Practices)

In our organizations, we will transform how we do our work. We will capture and translate our learning into active practice.

We also build upon and strengthen current initiatives and resources. The more we understand and acknowledge what works in families, the more positive our focus and outcomes become.

We focus on skills and practices in identifying, assessing and supporting children, youth and families at risk for or experiencing domestic violence.

We are committed to improving our services and programs and aligning policies and resources to support resilience and opportunities where everyone can thrive.

We collaborate to focus on prevention and early intervention strategies.
(Partnership/ Collaboration)

As a community we believe we can do more by doing it together.

Our community highly values connection, collaboration and communication. These core strengths build accessibility and reliability into our referral and working relationships.

The better we know our partners’ strengths, the better we are at linking people and resources. Forging collaborative partnerships empowers us to leverage these collective strengths and grow our capacity to build responsive systems for children, youth and families.

We build effective collaborations, partnerships and approaches to increase protective factors in our communities focusing on prevention, early intervention and the needs of children, youth and families.

The stronger our commitment to seeing the big picture, building a web of interconnectedness, and creating hope and inspiration by working together on tangible projects, the stronger the safety net we weave.

We make this issue vital and relevant to the community through raising awareness and influencing policy.
(Public Awareness/ Public Policy)

We raise community awareness through powerful messaging and information.

We are catalysts for change in neighborhoods and communities, engaging in and bringing our strengths, knowledge and skills to existing community efforts.

We understand the powerful role community engagement plays in raising awareness about the effects of childhood exposure to domestic violence.

We welcome all opportunities to support existing efforts, share resources, model and teach shifting paradigms, and working together to facilitate change.
